Profil du CREDDA
Le Centre de Recherche sur la Démocratie et le Développement en Afrique, CREDDA en sigle, est un cadre de réflexion regroupant l’élite intellectuelle Africaine consciente et avisée du caractère dynamique de la société humaine. L’opportunité est ici offerte aux universitaires à se faire une opinion au travers d’un diagnostic de la crise multidimensionnelle qui sévit sur le continent, dans la Sous Région des Grands Lacs Africains en général, en République Démocratique du Congo pour commencer. Et de développer ainsi les outils nécessaires à une mise en œuvre optimale des bienfaits de la Démocratie et du Développement dans lesquels l’Afrique s’est engagée – avec le reste du monde – pour garantir une heureuse sortie de la servitude.
D’aucuns n’ignorent que la Sous Région des Grands Lacs Africains est le théâtre de conflits politiques et de crises économiques à répétition. Ainsi le CREDDA sert de source d’inspiration et de « back up » aux acteurs socio – politiques. Une courroie de transmission entre la population et ses représentants pourra ainsi être établie en vue de trouver des réponses concrètes aux besoins des citoyens, éclairer les lanternes des uns et des autres, et promouvoir des solutions pratiques aux défis du développement et de la démocratie.
1. Vision
Faire asseoir une culture de la « Recherche – Action » dans les milieux universitaires. Faire de l’université une institution engagée dans une dynamique de progrès et de développement offrant ainsi à la société une élite promise, consciente de son rôle positif et capable de contribuer à construire son environnement en vue du bien être social global. Les conditions de vie difficiles trouveront une explication accompagnée de solutions donnant l’ouverture à une dynamique de croissance économique et de liberté.
2. Mission
Eveiller la conscience de l’universitaire et du citoyen sur ses responsabilités dans la gestion de la chose publique et du développement économique de sa société afin d’assurer son bien être. Car il n’y a point de Liberté sans Responsabilité et point de Développement sans une Transmission organisée du Savoir. L’éducation, l’information et la formation de la population sur la bonne gouvernance politique et économique, le leadership cohésif, l’émergence de la notion d’alternance du pouvoir mais aussi l’auto - prise en charge sont autant d’outils efficaces pour transformer la société.
3. Devise
La « Recherche – Action » est la devise du CREDDA. Le CREDDA croit en une dynamique pluridisciplinaire de recherche approfondie sur les questions liées à la démocratie, la bonne gouvernance et au développement. Des actions concrètes au travers diverses actions de communication sociale, que cela soit dans les salons diplomatiques, les auditoires, les médias, les publications scientifiques ou tous autres moyens de communication, sont les leitmotivs de l’engagement du CREDDA.
4. Motivation
L’ignorance du système normatif sociétal et des faits socio – politiques est un obstacle à l’émergence d’une société démocratique. Nul n’ignore que le respect de la loi et la conformité à celle-ci présuppose la connaissance de ladite loi. Une des pistes offertes pour endiguer ce mal demeure l’engagement et l’implication actif de l’universitaire capable de faire une bonne analyse des problèmes économiques, sociaux, culturels et politiques de notre temps et de répondre aux innombrables défis que lui pose son environnement.
Les institutions universitaires en République Démocratique du Congo et dans la Sous Région des Grands Lacs doivent désormais, comme sous les autres cieux, servir des phares pour éclairer et ainsi former des cadres avisés des défis de la vie collective et capables d’y apporter des solutions adaptées. Les institutions doivent influencer positivement la conduite de la société en mettant à sa disposition un savoir, un savoir - être, et un savoir - faire nécessaire à son développement. Nous pensons que c’est en mettant l’homme au centre des programmes de recherche que la science pourra vaincre l’ignorance, la pauvreté et la violence qui détruisent notre société : «la démarche scientifique, en Afrique aussi, est un outil performant, une force à promouvoir au service de l’humanité ». Tel est le défi à relever par l’intelligentsia aujourd’hui et de demain.
5. Objectifs
- Eduquer, informer et former la population sur la bonne gouvernance, le leadership et le développement ;
- Contribuer à la protection et à la promotion des droits et libertés fondamentaux de la personne;
- Promouvoir les droits de la femme et de l’enfant ;
- Conserver et protéger l’environnement pour assurer le développement durable et la défense des droits des communautés locales dans les carrés miniers, les forêts et les airs protégées ;
- Oeuvrer pour la résolution pacifique des conflits, la réconciliation et la paix ;
- Lutter contre l’impunité;
- Organiser des conférences et séminaires sur des faits socio - politiques et formuler des propositions de solution aux instances de décisions ;
- Publier des articles et ouvrages scientifiques (imprimerie, presses universitaires, site
Web).
6. Domaines d’intervention

CREDDA demeure certainement une initiative prise par des Professeurs en collaboration avec de jeunes chercheurs - enseignants évoluant dans des institutions universitaires en Afrique des Grands Lacs, Afrique Centrale et Afrique Australe. Son siège est établi en République Démocratique du Congo, à l’Université Libre des Pays des Grands Lacs/Goma.
A ce stade embryonnaire, CREDDA a besoin de la participation de toute personne qui aimerait apporter son savoir, son savoir – faire ainsi que son savoir - être à cette entreprise intellectuelle. D’aucuns notent que la cloche de la tradition orale accompagnée de celle qui est écrite a sonné pour que les sociétés Africaines soient dignement positionnées dans le concert des nations modernes.

The Centre of Research on Democracy and Development in Africa (CREDDA) is an intellectual room that put together conscious and mindful African academics dealing with the dynamic character of the humanity. A real opportunity is offered to scholars to scrutinize the crises facing the continent, the African Great Lakes Region, and the Democratic Republic of Congo in particular. More than one person is aware of the fact that the African Great Lakes Region is facing repetitive political and economic conflicts. One would like to develop suitable tools that help to have optimum benefit of Democracy and Development in Africa and prevent power steering.
CREDDA serves as source of inspiration and the “back up” to the socio – political leaders. In keeping with this approach, a real link between the people and its leaders will be established to enlighten the lantern of one another, and the promotion of concrete and suitable solutions to the challenges of development and democracy.
1. Vision
Through its actions, the Centre focuses on the establishment of a sustainable development culture of “Research – Action” within the academic milieu. The university remains that institution which contributes to the development of the society by offering conscious intellectual elite. In this order, an open – ended opportunity is offered to the intellectuals through their knowledge and expertise to push forward a sustainable agenda on the social well being of all. Explanation to the tough conditions of life that people are going through along with suitable solutions will be provided and will serve as a way forward to a dynamic of economic growth and freedom.
2. Mission
To create academic awareness on the responsibility of scholars in the management of the res publicae and in the economic growth of their respective communities. There is no freedom without accountability and no development without suitable mechanisms of knowledge sharing. One shares the point of view that people education, information and training on the political and economic good governance, leadership, the promotion of a culture of alternation on power and the self-dependence on development are powerful tools to transform the society.
3. Motto
« Research – Action » is the motto of the Centre. The Centre believes on a dynamic and deep multidisciplinary research on democracy, good governance and development. Concrete actions through social communication and partnership, diplomatic and academic rooms, medias, scientific publications or any other way of communication, are the backbone of the commitment of the Centre.
4. Motivation
Legal system and socio – political facts ignorance are real facts which hamper the promotion of a democratic society. One believes that knowledge of the law is an important prerequisite to its promotion and respect. The engagement and the active participation of academics who are able to have a correct understanding of what the society is nowadays going through (economic, social, cultural and political problems) is one of the crucial possibilities offered to overcome the fore – mentioned challenges.
From now on, universities within the Democratic Republic of Congo and the African Great Lakes Sub Region should train students aware of local needs of their communities and able to suggest solutions, accordingly, throughout their daily research. Intellectuals must positively influence the society by offering their knowledge and expertise. By putting human being at the middle of its diverse research programs, the Centre believes that the science will provide solutions to the problems that destroy our society, namely: ignorance, poverty, and violence. Taking lesson from overseas, “Scientific step, in Africa, should be understood and taken as a strong and useful weapon to the service of the humanity.” This is a great challenge that present and future intelligentsia must deal with.

- To educate, to inform and to train the population on the good governance, the leadership and the development ;
- To contribute to the protection and the promotion of fundamental human rights and freedoms;
- To promote women and children rights;
- To conserve and protect the environment to ensure sustainable development and local communities rights in the mining areas, the forests and the protected areas;
- To work on pacific resolution of conflicts, reconciliation and peace;
- To fight against the lack of punishment;
- To organise conferences and seminars on the socio-political facts and to suggest solutions to the decision makers;
- To publish scientific articles and books.

The Centre of Research on Democracy and Development in Africa (CREDDA) remains an initiative taken by Professors and young scholars – lecturers from African Great Lakes, Central African and Southern African Universities. Its headquarters is established in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Goma, at the Open University of Great Lakes Countries.
At its infancy, the Centre needs and calls on the participation of any person who would like to support this intellectual initiative through their knowledge and expertise. One believes that the ring of the oral tradition bell along with the written one has sound loudly for the African societies to take a good position amongst the modern nations.
